British Bases police add new patrol vehicles and equipment

The British Bases administrations in Dhekelia and Akrotiri are being strengthened with four new patrol vehicles and modern operational equipment to improve law enforcement, environmental protection, and services for local communities, according to a statement issued on Tuesday.

The four new vehicles are already operational and will be used by the administrations’ Control and Enforcement Officers during patrols, to identify and tackle administrative and environmental violations.

Officers equipped with body cameras and new gear

Officers have also been provided with body cameras, digital cameras, and vests.

According to the statement, Akrotiri Area Officer Giorgos Kiteos said the new vehicles and equipment represent a significant boost to the teams’ operational capabilities.

Dhekelia Area Officer Maria Pieri-Kyriakidou said the introduction of the new patrol vehicles marks a significant upgrade to the capabilities of Control and Enforcement Officers.
