Authorities have lifted the evacuation order that had been imposed in recent days in the Akrotiri area following a reassessment of the situation by the Interior Ministry in cooperation with other state services.
Decision after new evaluation
According to the latest assessment carried out in recent hours, the Interior Ministry concluded that, at this stage, there are no grounds to extend the evacuation measure.
The decision has already been communicated to the local authorities, including the Mayor of Kourion and the Deputy Mayor of Akrotiri, who were briefed on the developments and the planning of the next steps.
High alert remains in place
Despite the decision that led to the Akrotiri evacuation lifted status, authorities will maintain an increased level of alert in the area. The Interior Ministry said the situation will continue to be closely monitored and reassessed on an ongoing basis to ensure that measures can be activated immediately if needed.
Civil Defence patrols continue
In this context, Civil Defence forces remain in the Akrotiri area as a precaution, carrying out patrols and maintaining operational readiness to protect residents and respond quickly to any new development.
