A 16-year-old boy has died following a Paphos road accident on Saturday afternoon, according to a police statement.
The victim was Giorgos Hatziioannou, from Ayia Marina Chrysochous.
The collision occurred at around 3.25pm on Archbishop Makarios III Street in Argaka, as the teenager was travelling towards Griva Digeni Avenue.
Motorcycle struck pavement and electricity pole
Under circumstances that remain under investigation, the 16-year-old lost control of the racing motorcycle he was riding.
According to police, the motorcycle initially struck the pavement before hitting an Electricity Authority of Cyprus pole and coming to a stop on the road.
Hatziioannou was taken to Polis Chrysochous Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police investigation continues
Paphos Traffic Police and Polis Chrysochous Police Station are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the Paphos road accident.
