Police have arrested four people as part of an investigation into a robbery against a 26-year-old man in Germasogeia on Sunday night.
According to information under investigation, at around 8.25pm, the 26-year-old was riding a motorcycle fitted with a food delivery box bearing the branding of a specific company when several people stopped him and attacked him with clubs and stones.
The suspects stole his motorcycle, wallet, mobile phone and other personal belongings before fleeing the scene.
Police officers went to the area to investigate. During their inquiries, they saw a group of people moving aggressively towards another food delivery rider, who managed to escape while riding his motorcycle.
The suspects fled when they noticed the police. Officers, however, managed to stop four of them and arrested them for offences committed in the presence of police.
The four suspects are two 16-year-olds, a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old.
Card and gas device found
A bank card was found in the possession of one of the 16-year-olds, who allegedly failed to provide a satisfactory explanation for having it.
A device capable of releasing harmful gas was also found in the possession of the 18-year-old.
Police obtained evidence linking the four suspects to the robbery of the 26-year-old. Arrest warrants were subsequently issued and the suspects were taken into custody.
The Limassol Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is investigating the case.
Second attack under investigation
Police are also investigating an attack against a 26-year-old food delivery rider in the Mouttagiaka area on Sunday night.
The rider was travelling by motorcycle to deliver a food order at around 9.40pm when a number of people attacked him.
Investigations are continuing by the Limassol CID and Germasogeia Police Station. Police are examining whether the two incidents are connected.
