US Secretary of the Army, Dan Driscoll, has submitted his resignation to President Donald Trump after 18 months in office, the White House announced.
No reason was given for the Dan Driscoll resignation. However, Driscoll, who is a friend of Vice President JD Vance, had reportedly been involved in ongoing tensions with Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth.
White House praises his record
White House spokesperson Anna Kelly said Driscoll had been particularly effective in advancing Trump’s agenda to strengthen the United States through the Department of the Army.
“Secretary Driscoll was particularly effective in advancing President Trump’s agenda to make America strong again at the Department of the Army, providing exceptional leadership during historic military operations, contributing to negotiations between Russia and Ukraine and much more,” Kelly said.
“The United States Army is stronger than ever thanks to his work alongside the Commander-in-Chief and the Secretary of War,” she added.
The White House has not announced further details regarding Driscoll’s departure.
