Swearing-in ceremony for new Cabinet members completed

The swearing-in ceremony of the new members of the Cyprus Government is currently taking place at the Presidential Palace following the mini reshuffle decided by President Nikos Christodoulides.

The newly appointed officials are giving their official pledges before the President of the Republic as they assume their new duties.

Handover ceremonies scheduled

The oath-taking ceremony will be followed by a series of handover events at government departments.

The schedule includes the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare at 10:15, the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Works at 11:00, the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment at 11:45, and the Deputy Ministry of Culture at 12:30.

New appointments announced

On Tuesday, President Christodoulides exercised his constitutional powers and announced changes to the composition of the Government.

Evanthia Tsolaki was appointed Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Christos Senekis was appointed Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment, Tina Pavlou was appointed Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, and Klea Papaellina was appointed Deputy Minister of Culture.

The President also appointed Elias Myrianthous as Commissioner for the Environment and Animal Welfare, Eirini Poyiatzi as Citizen Commissioner, and Panayiotis Palates as Director of the President’s Office.

First Cabinet meeting under new composition

The Cabinet, with its new composition, is scheduled to hold its first meeting at 1:00pm.

President Christodoulides is expected to deliver messages during his address at the swearing-in ceremony.
