Four new English-language programmes at University of Cyprus

Date:

The Council of Ministers has approved four new English programmes at the University of Cyprus, marking a significant step in the institution’s internationalisation strategy.

The approval was welcomed by the university’s Rector, Tasos Christofides, who described the decision as an important milestone that will expand opportunities for students from Cyprus and abroad to pursue undergraduate studies in English.

The newly approved programmes are:

  • Medicine (MD)
  • Bachelor in Business Administration in Accounting or Finance
  • Bachelor in Business Administration in Marketing, Operations Management or Management
  • Bachelor in Economics, Economic Theory and Econometrics or International and European Economic Studies

Courses to begin in 2027

According to Christofides, preparations are already underway to ensure the English programmes are introduced in September 2027 while maintaining the University’s high academic standards.

“This development represents a significant milestone for our University and further strengthens its international orientation by expanding opportunities for students from Cyprus and abroad to study in a foreign language,” he said.

He added that the University is working intensively to prepare the new courses, which are designed to meet the evolving needs of society and the labour market.

First English-language Medicine degree

The Rector noted that the approval includes the first English-language undergraduate programme offered by the University’s Medical School.

The remaining three English programmes will be delivered by the School of Economics and Management, broadening the University’s portfolio of internationally accessible undergraduate studies.

The new courses are expected to attract both local and international students while enhancing the University’s competitiveness in higher education.
