The National Council meeting is underway under the chairmanship of President Nikos Christodoulides ahead of United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres’ visit to Cyprus from 27 to 29 July.
The meeting, which began at 10:00 local time, focuses on preparations for the Secretary-General’s visit and developments concerning the Cyprus issue.

Among those attending the National Council meeting are former President Nicos Anastasiades, DISY President Annita Demetriou, AKEL Secretary-General Stefanos Stefanou, ELAM President Christos Christou, DIKO President Nicholas Papadopoulos, ALMA – Citizens for Cyprus President Odysseas Michaelides, and Mike Spanos representing Famagusta for Cyprus (Direct Democracy).

Also participating are Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos, Deputy Minister to the President Irene Piki, Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Raouna, Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis, Deputy Government Spokesperson Yiannis Antoniou, Greek Cypriot negotiator Menelaos Menelaou, Director of the President’s Diplomatic Office Doros Venezis, Deputy Director of the Diplomatic Office Nektarios Sotiriou, and Director of the President’s Press Office Victor Papadopoulos.
The National Council meeting comes just days before the UN Secretary-General arrives in Cyprus for contacts related to the Cyprus issue.
