At least nine Palestinians, including five members of the same family, were killed in separate air strikes in Gaza on Thursday, according to health officials in the enclave.
Medical sources said Israeli aircraft targeted four apartments before dawn, including the home of a family that suffered multiple fatalities. At least 15 other people were reported injured.
The Israeli military did not immediately comment on the reported attacks.
Buildings damaged in strikes
Footage from the scene showed significant damage to residential buildings, with furniture destroyed and debris scattered across nearby streets.
Videos circulating on Palestinian social media appeared to show residents entering damaged apartments and covering bodies with blankets. Reuters said it was unable to independently verify the authenticity of the footage.
Ceasefire struggles to halt violence
The air strikes in Gaza come despite a ceasefire agreement brokered with the involvement of US President Donald Trump.
The truce has not fully stopped military operations, while indirect negotiations aimed at implementing a second phase of the agreement remain deadlocked.
The proposed next stage includes the disarmament of Hamas and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.
Casualties continue on both sides
Israel says its military operations are intended to prevent imminent attacks and has maintained that humanitarian aid and supplies continue to enter Gaza.
According to health officials in Gaza, around 930 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli strikes since the ceasefire began. The figures do not distinguish between civilians and combatants.
The Israeli military has reported that four Israeli soldiers have been killed by militants during the same period.
The conflict began after Hamas launched attacks on southern Israel in October 2023, triggering a war that has continued to have devastating consequences across the region.
