Rain and storms from midday
Cyprus weather is expected to become more unsettled in the coming hours, as weak low pressure and a relatively unstable air mass affect the island.
Although the day will begin mostly clear, increased low cloud will be observed locally. Clouds will gradually thicken, with local rain and isolated thunderstorms expected after midday, mainly in the mountains and inland areas.
Hail may also fall during thunderstorms.
Winds and temperatures
Winds will initially be variable and light, at 3 Beaufort, later becoming mainly south-westerly to north-westerly, light to moderate, at 3 to 4 Beaufort. The sea will be calm to slightly rough.
Temperatures will rise to around 26C inland, 24C on the west coast, 25C on the remaining coasts and 13C in the higher mountains.
Clearer tonight, fog possible
Tonight, the weather will become mostly clear, although increased cloud is expected locally, mainly over the western half of the island.
Later and during the early morning hours, thin fog or fog is expected to form locally, especially inland and in eastern areas.
Temperatures will fall to around 14C inland, 15C on the southern and eastern coasts, 16C on the remaining coasts and 11C in the higher mountains.
Unsettled pattern to continue
On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, clouds are expected to develop after midday, bringing isolated rain and the possibility of an isolated thunderstorm, mainly in the mountains.
Temperatures will gradually rise until Wednesday, reaching near average seasonal levels, before a slight drop on Thursday.
