A woman was arrested at Limassol District Court on Thursday afternoon after a 15cm knife was discovered in her handbag during a security check.
According to police information, a private security guard found the knife while screening the woman’s belongings as she attempted to enter the courthouse.

The security guard immediately alerted the authorities after finding the knife inside the woman’s bag.
Police officers arrived at the scene, seized the knife as evidence and arrested the woman.
Woman claims knife was for personal safety
Initial information indicates that the woman had attended the courthouse in connection with a civil case.
She reportedly told police officers that she carried the knife in her handbag for her own protection.
Limassol Police are continuing their investigation into the incident.
