Positive case confirmed in Pachna

Veterinary Services confirmed a positive case of foot-and-mouth disease on Tuesday evening at a goat and sheep farm in Pachna, Limassol, as part of nationwide sampling aimed at assessing epidemiological data.

According to authorities, the affected unit has 66 registered animals.

Control zones activated

Following notification of the farm operator, Veterinary Services immediately imposed isolation and restriction measures at the unit through designated control points.

Authorities also established control and surveillance zones with radii of three and 10 kilometres, respectively, around the affected farm.

The unit had already completed the second round of vaccinations and is not located in proximity to other livestock farms.

Officials noted that the second vaccination dose for goats, sheep and cattle has already been completed across the Limassol district.

Veterinary Services said teams are working continuously to investigate the new incident and assess the latest epidemiological data.

The process of culling the animals at the farm has already begun.

Authorities said the public will continue to receive updates on any new developments.
