Four dead in another school shooting in Turkey within two days

Date:

A school shooting at a secondary school in southern Turkey has left at least four people dead and several others injured, according to local authorities, as police continue investigations into the deadly incident.

Attack at Ayser Calik Secondary School

The school shooting took place at Ayser Calik Secondary School in the Kahramanmaras region, in Turkey, local media reported. Emergency services and police were dispatched to the scene shortly after the incident began.

Authorities said at least 20 people were injured in the attack, with some reported to be in a critical condition.

Gunman entered classrooms

According to Turkish media reports, the attacker entered two classrooms during the incident. He was reportedly carrying five guns and seven magazines, which are believed to have belonged to his father.

Witnesses described scenes of panic, with heavy gunfire heard inside the school and crowds gathering outside as emergency teams responded.

Investigation underway

The motive behind the school shooting remains unclear. A full investigation has been launched by Turkish authorities.

There has been no official confirmation regarding the identity of those killed or the fate of the attacker.

Comes a day after another school attack

The incident follows another violent school attack in southern Turkey a day earlier, in which 16 people were injured after a former student opened fire at a high school before reportedly taking his own life.

Authorities have not indicated any link between the two incidents.

Footage from the scene showed large crowds, some filming on mobile phones, as ambulances transported the injured from the area.
