Journalist delivers dossier

Journalist Makarios Drousiotis has submitted a 34-page statement supported by 137 electronic pieces of evidence to the Cyprus Police, addressing allegations he made in recent social media posts. The dossier was handed in at the Police Headquarters’ Criminal Investigations Department (TAE) on Tuesday afternoon.

In a post on X, Drousiotis also noted that a copy of the statement was sent to the President of the Republic “to ensure he has direct knowledge and can take the necessary decisions.” He emphasised the “urgent necessity” for the Cabinet to appoint independent criminal investigators beyond suspicion.

Police response

Asked by the Cyprus News Agency about Drousiotis’ visit, police spokesperson Vyronas Vyronos said authorities have not yet received full details of the evidence presented.

When asked if cooperation with Drousiotis will continue, Vyronos said the investigation will proceed and, if necessary, contact between the authorities and the journalist will be maintained.

Next steps

The submission of the evidence dossier by Drousiotis marks a key stage in the ongoing scrutiny of the journalist’s claims. Authorities are expected to assess the material before determining further action, while public and political attention remains high.
