Air defence intercepts waves of attacks
Russian armed forces announced early Monday that air defence units intercepted and destroyed 148 Ukrainian drones over a three-hour period. Officials also reported that crews were restoring electricity to nearly 500,000 households affected by previous airstrikes.
Casualties and damage reported
On Sunday evening, a drone strike killed a civil defence volunteer in Russia’s border Belgorod region, which frequently comes under Ukrainian attacks. Other drones struck a multi-storey building in the strategic Black Sea port city of Novorossiysk. Mayor Andrei Kravchenko described “drone debris” hitting buildings and causing “victims,” without specifying whether these were injuries or fatalities.
Incidents in Crimea and Donetsk
In Crimea, Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhayev reported four Ukrainian drone airstrikes, with seven drones intercepted during the latest wave. In the Russian-controlled Donetsk region, Moscow-installed official Andrei Chertkov confirmed that power had been restored to Donetsk and Makiivka after Ukrainian attacks on energy infrastructure.
Restoration of electricity
Repair crews also worked overnight to restore electricity in the Zaporizhzhia region, which is under Russian control, following extensive power outages caused by Ukrainian drone strikes.
