Young riders gather and light fires

A disturbance unfolded on Monday night (30 March) in Limassol after dozens of young individuals caused unrest in various parts of the city.

According to police spokesperson Vyronas Vyronos, around 90 to 100 youths on motorcycles were moving across Limassol and lit several small fires. Authorities are now investigating the incidents to determine the exact motive behind the actions.

Police probe possible army-related activity

Vyronos noted that such behaviour is sometimes linked to informal practices associated with military enlistment. However, he stressed that a full investigation is underway to clarify the origin and purpose of the activity.

Officials are assessing whether the incidents were isolated or part of a broader pattern, as concerns rise over public safety and potential disruption.

Authorities continue investigations

Police remain on alert as inquiries continue into the disturbance in Limassol, aiming to identify those involved and prevent similar incidents in the future.

A video circulating online captures scenes from the disturbance, showing groups of motorcyclists and small fires lit in public areas.
