Drone flights prohibited near illegal airport

A drone ban has been announced by the “police” authorities in the occupied territories, prohibiting the operation of drones around the illegal airport in Tymbou.

According to Turkish Cypriot media reports, the restriction covers drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) operating near the airport in order to ensure the safety of aircraft movements.

Several surrounding villages included

The prohibition applies to multiple nearby villages in the area surrounding the airport.

These include Louroujina, Tymbou, Afania, Palaikythro, Assia, Arsos, Mellousia, Mora and Agyia.

Authorities said the restriction will remain in force until further notice.

The announcement also warned that anyone who violates the drone ban will face “legal” consequences.

Officials said the measure was introduced as a precaution to protect flight safety in the area around the airport.
