Larnaca hospital bullets: possible scenarios probed, NG informed

A cleaner discovered bullets inside a nylon bag in the toilets of Larnaca General Hospital, triggering an immediate response from authorities.

The head of the Larnaca Criminal Investigation Department said officers located 20 bullets of different calibres at the scene. The ammunition included tracer rounds, blank cartridges and several full 7.62-calibre rounds. Police collected the bullets and will send them for ballistic testing, while forensic experts will also examine them for possible genetic material.

CCTV and patient lists under review

Police are reviewing the hospital’s CCTV footage as part of the investigation. Officers are also checking the lists of patients who visited the outpatient department during the past 24 hours in an effort to identify the person who left the bullets in the area.

Investigators are examining whether someone placed the ammunition there for another person to collect or simply forgot it at the scene.

Coordination with National Guard

Police are coordinating with the National Guard as the inquiry continues. Forensic and laboratory examinations remain under way, and authorities expect the results to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the Larnaca hospital bullets.

Investigations continue.
