President to present government programme for 2026

Date:

Address to be broadcast on Thursday evening

The President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, will present the official Government Programme for 2026 on Thursday at 19:00, during a televised address that will be broadcast on television and online.

Annual programme presented at start of each year

In a post on social media, the President noted that following his election, the practice was introduced of presenting the Government’s Annual Programme at the beginning of each year, describing it as a political act within the framework of the government’s commitment to transparency and accountability.

“It is with a sense of responsibility and deep respect that I will address all of you again this year,” the President said. “Thursday, 5 February, at 19:00, live on CyBC1. Together, we continue to change Cyprus.”

Review of government work planned for March

Last month, Deputy Minister to the President Irene Piki said that following a special Cabinet meeting to discuss the implementation of the 2025 programme, the President will proceed in March with an overall review of the government’s work.

She stated that 67% of the actions announced for 2025 have either been implemented or are at the final stage of implementation and are expected to be completed within the coming weeks.

According to Piki, 47 of the 88 flagship actions announced have been fully completed, while a further 12 are expected to be completed shortly, raising the implementation rate to 67%. Completed actions include tax reform, the reform of teacher evaluation, and progress in the digital transition.
