Israel strikes Hezbollah infrastructure in southern Lebanon

Date:

The Israeli military announced early Monday that it carried out airstrikes on Hezbollah targets across southern Lebanon.

In a social media post, the Israel Defense Forces said they hit “terror infrastructure” belonging to the Lebanese militant group in several locations. Targets included a rocket-launch site used for attacks on Israel, a training compound of the elite Radwan Force, weapon-training areas, firing ranges, and other military structures.

Attacks continue despite ceasefire

The strikes come despite a ceasefire that took effect in November 2024 between Israel and Hezbollah. Israeli forces still regularly target Hezbollah positions and maintain control of five border points inside southern Lebanon.

In early November, Israel warned it would intensify operations, accusing Hezbollah of rearming.

The group has been significantly weakened by the 2024 war, particularly after an Israeli strike in Beirut killed its long-time leader Hassan Nasrallah in September.

Meanwhile, the United States has stepped up pressure on Lebanese authorities to disarm Hezbollah — a demand the organisation and its allies reject while Israeli troops remain on Lebanese soil.
