New complaints about sea pollution in the Limassol district, including the Agios Tychonas area, have emerged, with reports of unknown substances, rubbish and possible sewage in the water.
The reports were made over the past few days, with residents calling for the situation and the source of the substances to be investigated.
White material spotted in the sea
According to the complaints, a significant amount of unknown white material was again seen floating in and scattered across the sea at Armonia beach.
Residents said a similar incident was recorded on 15 August, when nappies, sanitary pads, plastic and other waste were found in the water.
A separate complaint referred to brown sludge, foam and cloudy water, along with a strong smell which, according to the complainant, appeared to resemble sewage.
Photos and videos have been recorded and submitted as evidence, while residents are calling for an immediate investigation into the sea pollution and the origin of the substances.
Sewage has not been confirmed
Authorities have not so far confirmed that the material is sewage.
Further checks and laboratory analysis are required to establish the nature and source of the substances reported in the water.
