Arrest of man wanted on European warrant at Larnaca airport

Date:

A 35-year-old man was detained on Thursday afternoon following an arrest at Larnaca airport, after police identified him as wanted by another European country in connection with an ongoing investigation. The arrest at Larnaca airport occurred during a routine travel document check as the man prepared to depart the island.

Authorities discovered that a European arrest warrant had been issued against him for the alleged offence of participating in a criminal organisation. Once officers confirmed the warrant, the man was taken into custody under a temporary arrest order and placed under detention.

The case is now being handled by the Larnaca CID, which has taken over the investigation and is coordinating with the relevant foreign authorities as required.
