€1.5M luxury cars torched in Limassol – CCTV captures arsonist

Date:

Police investigators in Limassol are examining crucial CCTV footage showing the person who set fire to four luxury vehicles worth more than €1.5 million late Wednesday night.

The cars belonged to a 40-year-old businessman and were parked outside his company offices in Mouttayiaka.

What happened?

Shortly before midnight, an unknown individual started the blaze. A private security guard spotted the suspect and tried to approach, but a sudden flare-up forced the arsonist to flee.

Firefighters and police responded immediately. All four vehicles were completely destroyed.

Link to Demosthenous murder?

The businessman was a close associate of 49-year-old Stavros Demosthenous, murdered on 17 October.

Assistant Police Director Lefteris Kyriakou told reporters:

“All motives are being investigated. At this stage, there is no evidence linking the arson to the Demosthenous murder, but business relationships and other activities are under active review.”

Evidence has been collected from the scene for forensic examination.
