Six killed as overnight Russian strikes hit residential buildings in Kyiv

Date:

At least six people were killed and others injured during the night after Russian missile and drone strikes hit the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv. Local officials said the attacks set residential buildings ablaze and caused widespread disruption.

Timur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, wrote on Telegram that a residential block on the right bank of the Dnipro River took a direct hit. Emergency crews took at least four people to hospital, while eight others escaped uninjured. Images on unofficial channels showed apartments burning.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said authorities evacuated another apartment block in the Pechersk district after a separate strike. More unofficial images showed large sections of the building in flames while firefighters fought the blaze.

Unofficial reports also claimed falling drone debris landed in an open area in eastern Kyiv. Klitschko added that the attack cut power and water in parts of the city.

The Ukrainian Energy Ministry confirmed what it described as a “massive attack” targeting energy infrastructure across the country in the early hours of the morning, shortly after nationwide air-raid alerts sounded for missiles and drones. The ministry said Russian forces launched a large, combined strike against critical energy facilities and warned that emergency crews remain deployed across affected regions.
