New testimony reveals coordinated escape plan in Demosthenous murder case

Date:

A seven-day remand order was issued by the Limassol District Court against the two 28-year-old men who were arrested in Greece and handed over to the Cypriot Police, in connection with the murder of 49-year-old Stavros Demosthenous. The two suspects were escorted under heavy security to the court, wearing bulletproof vests, while the defence lawyers raised no objections to the request for their remand.

RIK reports that, according to evidence presented in court, the father of one 28-year-old owns the getaway car. He allegedly helped his son, considered the gunman, flee the scene after the killing of Stavros Demosthenous. The 31-year-old man also joined them during the escape from Agios Tychonas.
They abandoned the motorcycle at the location before moving to the car.

The second 28-year-old, cousin of the alleged gunman, drove the vehicle during the escape.
All three men travelled to the 31-year-old’s house together after leaving the scene.
There, they hid the alleged gunman’s clothes to avoid police detection.

Sigma’s correspondent says the investigator linked two Georgian nationals directly to the murder.
One man was reportedly inside the van used by the group during the initial escape.
Police also connected him to the abandoned motorcycle found by investigators.
The second Georgian suspect allegedly waited at the drop-off point in Agios Tychonas.
He then drove the group away using the vehicle owned by the suspect’s father.
