A 32-year-old man from the Larnaca district has been arrested following a coordinated police operation targeting people suspected of systematic drug trafficking and dealing.
According to police, the operation was carried out at around 5pm on Monday by members of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DAOE), the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) and the Customs Department.
Officers stopped the 32-year-old’s vehicle for inspection in a rural area of the district. A search uncovered two cylindrical packages containing cocaine, with a total gross weight of 100g, as well as 16 firecrackers.
Police subsequently searched an open area where the suspect had been seen earlier and found a plastic container holding another two packages of cocaine, also weighing 100g.
