Fuel prices drop slightly, heating oil cuts expected soon

Date:

A slight drop in fuel prices was recorded in the past 24 hours, according to Christodoulos Christodoulou, spokesperson for the Petrol Stations Association. Speaking on SIGMA’s Mesimeri kai Kati, he said prices had fallen by about one to one-and-a-half cents after two to three months of stability.

Christodoulou explained that the decline is linked to the fall in the international oil price, which dropped from 64 to 62 dollars per barrel within a single day. “We don’t know the exact reason; it may be related to the Gaza agreement,” he noted.

Looking ahead, he estimated that if the price stabilises at 62 dollars for two to three days, the next shipment of fuel arriving in Cyprus is expected to be cheaper.

With winter approaching, attention is turning to heating oil prices. Although there has been no reduction so far, Christodoulou said a drop is expected in the coming days, though it is too early to predict whether prices will be lower overall this year.
