Limassol police chase ends with arrest of 32-year-old

Date:

A 32-year-old man has been arrested in Limassol for assaulting a police officer and committing multiple traffic offences.

At around 3:20 yesterday afternoon, members of the Limassol OPE (Emergency Response Unit) spotted a vehicle on Franklin Roosevelt Avenue running a red light. Police immediately activated the patrol car’s lights and siren. The driver accelerated, attempting to evade the officers by driving recklessly and dangerously.

Police pursued the vehicle, which came to a sudden stop. Three individuals exited the car and fled on foot in an unknown direction.

One officer managed to intercept the driver, who pushed him in an attempt to escape. With the assistance of a second officer, the suspect was restrained, arrested, and taken into custody.

The man, a 32-year-old resident of Limassol, was found to be driving without a valid insurance certificate or road tax licence.
