Queer wave Cyprus returns this September at NiMAC

Date:

Queer Wave Cyprus returns this september is set to take place from 12 to 21 September 2025 in the historic walled city of Nicosia, with NiMAC (Nicosia Municipal Arts Centre) hosting the festival across its exhibition spaces.

As the Queer Wave Cyprus festival enters its sixth year, it continues to foster inclusivity and connectivity through film, art, and performance. Over the past five years, Queer Wave has offered more than 200 Cyprus premieres of LGBTQIA+ films, shining light on voices both local and international.

This year’s programme promises a ten‑day programme of screenings, plus parallel events that will bring together artists, performers, and audiences for an immersive cultural experience. Past editions have featured a rich blend of Q&A sessions, panel discussions, site‑specific screenings, DJ sets, drag performances, and experimental art —and we can expect similarly diverse offerings this year.

The choice of NiMAC—an iconic venue housed in the old Powerhouse in the heart of Nicosia—highlights the festival’s commitment to connecting culture, history, and contemporary queer expression.
