A woman was injured on Thursday afternoon after falling on rocks in the area of the sea caves in Ayia Napa, authorities confirmed.
The Cyprus Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) announced that at 15:05 it activated the national Search and Rescue Plan “NEARCHOS” following reports of a person injured in a fall at the Ayia Napa sea caves.
In response, the Ayia Napa sea caves rescue operation involved personnel from the Famagusta Fire Station, the Disaster Response Special Unit (EMAK), a vessel from the Port and Marine Police, and an ambulance from the State Health Services Organisation (OKYPY).
According to the JRCC, the injured woman was recovered by the Fire Service and transported by ambulance to Famagusta General Hospital for medical treatment.
In light of the incident, the JRCC issued a reminder to the public that approaching or diving in the sea cave area at Cape Greco is strictly prohibited. The Department of Geological Survey has assessed the site as dangerous due to increased erosion and unstable ground conditions.
