Cyprus average monthly earnings exceed €2,500- 5.4% increase

Date:

Cyprus average monthly earnings have risen above €2,500 for the first quarter of 2025, marking a steady increase in wages across the workforce.

Preliminary figures from the Statistical Service show that the average gross monthly earnings of employees for Q1 2025 are estimated at €2,509. This is up from €2,382 in Q1 2024, an annual increase of 5.4%.

After adjusting for seasonal fluctuations, average gross monthly earnings in Q1 2025 were also up by 1.4% compared to the fourth quarter of 2024, reflecting consistent growth.

When broken down by gender, the data reveals that men’s average gross monthly earnings stood at €2,689, while women’s averaged €2,284. Both groups saw annual increases: 5.2% for men and 5.5% for women. Although women’s earnings grew at a slightly higher rate in percentage terms, the gender pay gap remains significant.

The Cyprus average monthly earnings data reflects a broader trend of wage growth, influenced by factors including inflation adjustments, labour market conditions, and sectoral wage agreements. Analysts note that while the upward trend is positive, the persistence of wage disparities and the cost of living remain areas of concern.
