In light of the current escalation of hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, leading to massive displacement and crossings from Lebanon into Syria, the European Commission has mobilised an additional €5 million to address the most urgent humanitarian needs of people crossing into Syria.
This funding is part of a package of emergency measures to address the consequences of the regional spillover of the crisis. The new allocation aims to increase humanitarian assistance for Syrians and Lebanese, helping displaced people and host communities meet immediate needs such as food, health and protection.
The aid will be channelled through EU humanitarian partners already responding to the displacement crisis in Syria to ensure that essential assistance is provided quickly to those arriving. In 2024, the Commission has allocated €159 million in humanitarian aid to help millions of people in Syria, including the latest amount.
