A new 900-tonne humanitarian aid shipment has departed from Cyprus for Gaza as part of the continued implementation of the Amalthea Plan.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the shipment includes medicines, medical equipment, hygiene supplies, food and shelter equipment.
The mission is being carried out in close cooperation with the UN Office for Project Services (UNOPS), under the monitoring mechanism established by UN Security Council Resolution 2720, and the United Arab Emirates.
Operational coordination is also being carried out with the parties directly involved.
Multiple organisations contribute
Several countries, international organisations and humanitarian groups are contributing to the shipment, including France, Slovakia, Kuwait, the UN Development Programme (UNDP), the UN Population Fund (UNFPA), the World Health Organization (WHO), World Central Kitchen, All Hands and Hearts and Project Hope.
The Ministry said Cyprus continues to serve as a stable hub for the collection, storage, security screening, inspection and departure of humanitarian aid destined for Gaza.
The aid is transported for delivery and distribution in Gaza through the port of Ashdod.
More than 37,000 tonnes delivered
According to the Ministry, more than 37,000 tonnes of humanitarian aid have so far been shipped and delivered to Gaza’s civilian population since the maritime humanitarian corridor began operating.
The latest shipment forms part of Cyprus’ continued efforts under the Amalthea Plan to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian assistance to Gaza.
