New details have emerged about an alleged Iranian plot to assassinate one of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s sons.
Newsmax reported that Yair Netanyahu was targeted while living in South Florida, citing a source familiar with the matter. The report follows Netanyahu’s disclosure last week that Iran had sought to kill one of his children.
Israeli intelligence reportedly uncovered plot
According to the source, Israeli intelligence uncovered the alleged Iranian plot in December and alerted US authorities.
Officials reportedly believed Iranian operatives were already in the Miami area and were monitoring Yair Netanyahu’s residence and movements.
The report did not provide further details about the alleged operatives or how the plot was uncovered.
Yair Netanyahu returned to Israel
Yair Netanyahu was reportedly under the protection of an Israeli security detail at the time.
According to the source, he was instructed to leave the United States immediately. He reportedly departed without collecting his belongings and returned to Israel, where he now lives.
The latest report comes after Prime Minister Netanyahu said last week that Iran had attempted to target one of his children, without initially identifying which son was allegedly targeted.
The allegations have not been independently confirmed, and no further details about the reported Iranian plot have been publicly disclosed.
