39-year-old escapee from Nicosia General Hospital captured

The 39-year-old Romanian man who escaped while under police guard at Nicosia General Hospital on Tuesday afternoon (7 January) has been located and arrested.

According to information from SigmaLive, the man was found near the industrial area of Latsia.

It is recalled that, as stated to the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) by a representative of the Police Headquarters Press Office, the 39-year-old had been arrested in recent days in connection with a theft case in Nicosia. He was in custody as the Police, following the completion of their investigation, had filed the case with the Nicosia District Court for trial. Following court instructions, the accused was being held in a police detention facility.

On Monday, 6 January, the 39-year-old was admitted to Nicosia General Hospital, where he was under police guard. He escaped from the hospital on Tuesday afternoon.
