Yellow weather warning issued for storms tonight

Date:

A yellow weather warning has been issued by the Meteorological Service ahead of a significant change in weather expected across Cyprus tonight.

Speaking on “Mesimeri kai Kati”, Meteorological Service representative Andreas Chrysanthou issued repeated warnings about the areas expected to be affected by heavy rainfall.

Paphos expected to be hardest hit

The weather system will move in from the west before gradually spreading across the rest of the island.

Polis Chrysochous, Akamas and coastal areas of Paphos and Limassol are expected to be affected first. Heavy rainfall, hail and strong winds are possible, according to Chrysanthou.

He stressed that Paphos is expected to bear the brunt of the weather tonight, with conditions likely to be significantly more intense than in other areas.

More instability on Friday

Further instability is expected tomorrow morning, particularly around midday.

The mountainous areas and the eastern half of the island are expected to experience the most unsettled conditions, according to the Meteorological Service.
