Wild night in Limassol: Patrol car attacked with bat, 23-year-old assaulted

Police are investigating a attack in Limassol involving allegations of assault causing actual bodily harm, possession of offensive weapons and malicious damage.

According to information under investigation, at around 9pm on Wednesday, a 23-year-old man was allegedly attacked outside a kiosk in the Agios Nikolaos area of Limassol by five people.

The suspects allegedly struck the man before fleeing the scene.

The 23-year-old was taken by ambulance to Limassol General Hospital, while police were called to the scene.

Police vehicle damaged

When a patrol car arrived, around 10 people wearing hoods and helmets allegedly acted aggressively towards the officers.

One of them reportedly struck the police vehicle with a club, damaging its windscreen. The group then fled the scene.

The attack victim underwent medical examinations and was found to have bruises and abrasions on various parts of his body. After receiving first aid, he was discharged from hospital.

Police investigate possible connection

The Minor Offences Department and Limassol CID are continuing their investigations.

Authorities are also examining whether the people who confronted police were the same individuals who had allegedly attacked the 23-year-old earlier.
