When to expect child and single-parent benefit payments

Date:

New process announced

The Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare has announced the start of the application process for the Child Benefit scheme and the Single-Parent Family Benefit for 2026, following the publication of the relevant decree by the Minister of Labour and Social Insurance in the Official Gazette.

The Child Benefit payments are expected to begin on 29 May 2026.

Automatic renewal for existing beneficiaries

According to the announcement, individuals who were already beneficiaries of the Child Benefit Cyprus in 2025 will not need to submit a new application for 2026.

Their eligibility will be assessed automatically by the Welfare Benefits Management Service (WMS).

However, beneficiaries must update their details if any changes in their personal or financial circumstances may affect eligibility.

Mandatory online updates via CYLogin

The ministry clarified that any changes – such as income from dividends or other financial adjustments – must be submitted exclusively through the electronic Change of Details form via the CYLogin platform.

Registration and identification through CYLogin are required, and all updates or additional information will only be accepted electronically.

The Child Benefit system is fully digitalised for this process.

Applications for new beneficiaries

Individuals who were not beneficiaries in 2025 or are applying for the first time must submit their application electronically through CYLogin by 31 December 2026.

New applicants are also required to complete and submit a signed Authorisation Form in original form at a Welfare Benefits Service Centre, following an appointment arranged online or by telephone.

Full digital submission for eID holders

Applicants who possess an electronic signature and electronic identity (eID) will be able to complete the entire process digitally, without the need for physical submission.

This significantly simplifies access to the Child Benefit scheme for eligible citizens.

Public information and support

The Deputy Ministry urged citizens to seek information through the Welfare Benefits Management Service website or by calling the helpline 1450 for guidance on applications and required documents.
