Weather in Cyprus set to heat up from Friday

Seasonal low pressure is affecting the area, while a warm air mass is expected to arrive from Friday, according to the Meteorological Service.

Today, the weather will be mainly clear, although locally increased cloud cover is expected in the afternoon, particularly in the mountains.

Winds will be variable and light at 3 Beaufort in the morning, becoming mainly south-westerly to north-westerly, light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort later in the day. Winds may temporarily reach 4-5 Beaufort along the south-western coast.

The sea will be slightly rough.

Temperatures will rise to around 38°C inland, 32°C on the west and north coasts, 35°C on the south and east coasts, and 29°C in the highest mountains.

Clear skies overnight

Tonight, the weather will remain mainly clear, although temporarily increased low cloud is possible, mainly in coastal areas.

Winds will initially be westerly to north-westerly, light and occasionally moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, before becoming mainly downslope and light at 3 Beaufort later.

The sea will be calm to slightly rough.

Temperatures will fall to around 24°C inland and on the south and east coasts, 23°C on the remaining coasts and 20°C in the highest mountains.

Temperatures to rise on Friday

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, the weather will remain mainly clear, although locally increased cloud will develop in the afternoons, particularly in the mountains.

The weather forecast indicates that temperatures will rise on Friday, reaching levels above the average for the time of year.

A small drop in temperatures is expected by Sunday, although conditions will remain mainly clear.
