New round of negotiations under consideration
A new round of US-Iran talks could take place later this week or early next week, according to diplomatic sources cited by Reuters, as international efforts intensify to revive dialogue between Washington and Tehran.
An official from the Iranian embassy in Pakistan said discussions remain ongoing regarding the timing of the next round, while other sources indicated that delegations from both sides could return to Islamabad within days.
No final date yet confirmed
Despite growing expectations, no formal date has been set for the next phase of US-Iran talks.
A senior Iranian source told Reuters that both sides have kept scheduling options open between Friday and Sunday, although final confirmation remains pending.
Pakistani officials involved in mediation efforts said Islamabad is actively coordinating with both parties to finalise arrangements and encourage a return to negotiations.
Pakistan’s mediation role
Pakistan has emerged as a key intermediary, engaging with both Washington and Tehran in an effort to bring the two sides back to the negotiating table.
High-level Pakistani sources confirmed that positive responses have been received from Iran regarding a potential second round of talks, although logistical details, including venue and timing, remain unresolved.
Efforts are also reportedly underway to extend the current ceasefire window to allow additional time for diplomatic progress.
Ceasefire pressure shapes negotiations
The renewed push for US-Iran talks comes after previous discussions concluded without agreement, despite ongoing attempts to stabilise the situation through a temporary ceasefire arrangement.
Officials familiar with the process say that continued diplomatic engagement remains possible before the ceasefire period expires next week.
Draft proposals already exchanged
According to diplomatic sources, written draft proposals outlining demands and possible concessions have already been exchanged between the two sides.
This, officials say, indicates that both Washington and Tehran are aware of potential compromise areas, even if major disagreements remain unresolved.
Outlook remains uncertain
While momentum for renewed US-Iran talks is building, officials caution that both timing and location remain fluid, and further confirmation will be required before negotiations formally resume.
Diplomats involved in the process say that discussions could be held in the coming days, depending on the final agreement between the parties.
