A 36-year-old Polish man wanted for a kidnapping case in his home country has been arrested at Paphos Airport, authorities confirmed on Wednesday.
The man appeared before Paphos District Court today, a day after his arrest upon arrival in Cyprus. Polish authorities had issued a European arrest warrant against him to serve a one-year prison sentence, imposed in October 2020, for offences related to kidnapping and unlawful detention.
The court ordered that he remain in custody until Thursday, when extradition proceedings to Poland are expected to begin.
