In a stunning development, a Greek guard has been rescued from the Greek-owned cargo ship Eternity C, along with one other member of the security team, nearly 48 hours after the vessel was sunk in a deadly Houthi attack in the Red Sea.
According to sources from the ship’s security firm, one Greek and one Indian guard were found alive at sea after spending almost two full days adrift. Their survival has been described as miraculous given the conditions and time elapsed.
The Eternity C was attacked on Monday by Houthi forces using naval drones and rockets. The assault led to the vessel’s eventual sinking, with at least four confirmed dead and fifteen initially reported missing. Among those unaccounted for were crew members and private security personnel.
Search and rescue efforts are still underway to locate the remaining missing individuals. The international maritime community continues to follow the crisis in the Red Sea closely, as fears grow over the safety of commercial shipping in the region.
The survival of the Greek guard offers a rare moment of hope in an otherwise grim situation.
