Chloraka femicide – woman died after being stubbed by partner

Date:

The autopsy of the 34-year-old woman who died in Paphos on Monday has confirmed the cause of death as haemorrhagic shock resulting from a punctured lung caused by a sharp object. Authorities suspect her partner was behind the fatal attack.

Assistant Police Director of Paphos Operations, Michalis Nikolaou, stated that the post-mortem examination was carried out at Nicosia General Hospital by forensic pathologists Dr Andreas Papetta and Orthodoxos Orthodoxou.

According to their findings, the woman died from haemorrhagic shock due to rupture of the left lung, inflicted by a cutting and stabbing weapon.

The case is being investigated as premeditated murder and femicide, as well as attempted murder, since the victim’s 14-year-old son was also injured in the attack. The investigation is ongoing and is being led by the Paphos Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

A 53-year-old man, believed to be the victim’s partner, has been arrested and is currently being held under police guard at Nicosia General Hospital. He is under an eight-day detention order.

According to police, the suspect has reportedly confessed to stabbing his partner.

The 14-year-old son, who suffered a neck wound on the left side, was treated at Paphos General Hospital and has since been discharged.
