A 31-year-old man has been transferred to Athalassa Psychiatric Hospital following an attempted murder in Agios Dometios, police confirmed on Friday.
The incident took place on Thursday at approximately 1:30 p.m., when police received a report of an injured man in the Nicosia suburb. Officers arriving on the scene found a 69-year-old man seriously wounded in the parking area of his residence.
The victim was rushed by ambulance to Nicosia General Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. According to doctors, his condition is serious but stable.
Authorities have not released details regarding the motive or the relationship between the alleged perpetrator and the victim. However, police confirmed that the suspect has since been transferred to Athalassa Hospital for psychiatric evaluation, suggesting potential mental health concerns in the case.
