The University of Cyprus English programmes are now open for applications, with the university launching its first five English-taught undergraduate degrees ahead of the September 2027 intake.
Annual tuition fees range from €5,300 to €25,000, depending on the programme. Applications will be assessed on a rolling basis.
The launch follows more than a decade of discussions and delays. The programmes are aimed at international students, Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, as well as graduates of private schools who previously chose to study abroad or at private universities.
Five English-language degrees on offer
The university will initially offer the following programmes:
| Programme | Duration | Annual tuition |

The English-language Medicine programme will admit up to 30 students.
It will follow the existing Greek-language curriculum, including early clinical exposure, research participation and simulator-based training.
European joint degree in Urban Sustainability
The three-year Urban Sustainability programme is offered through the YUFE European university alliance.
Students will have the opportunity to study at up to three European universities and graduate with a joint degree awarded by eight institutions.
The interdisciplinary programme focuses on addressing real-world urban challenges in cooperation with local stakeholders.
Admission requirements and deadlines
Applications will remain open until July 2027, with final offers expected in August.
Applicants must submit:
- A secondary school leaving certificate.
- Evidence of strong English-language proficiency.
- Results from recognised examinations.
- A personal statement.
- A curriculum vitae.
The university has not yet announced final student intake limits for most of the programmes. Officials have stressed that maintaining academic quality will remain the priority.
More English-language programmes planned for 2028
University of Cyprus Vice-Chancellor Tassos Christofides described the launch as the result of more than a decade of work.
He said the university had already received expressions of interest from schools and parent associations.
Christofides also revealed that one or two proposed programmes were excluded because of restrictions imposed by Parliament. However, the university hopes to expand its English-language offering in 2028.
University officials stressed that the new programmes will be fully self-financing and will not place a burden on the state budget.
