Two new cases of foot-and-mouth disease have been detected in sheep and goat farms in Athienou, according to information received by the Cyprus News Agency on Saturday from the Veterinary Services. The number of infected units has now reached 110.

Regarding the red cattle and fat-tailed sheep belonging to rare breeds, CNA sources report that the Veterinary Services have not yet made a decision on the matter, although this is expected in the coming days.

As announced on Thursday by the Veterinary Services, the second phase of vaccination for cattle has reached 81%, while vaccination coverage for sheep and goats has reached 64% of the total animal population.

As for pig farms, all units within restriction zones have received at least the first dose of vaccination, while four units in restriction zones in the Larnaca district have also received a second vaccination.
