Two masked attacks on food delivery drivers in Limassol

Date:

Two violent attacks against food delivery drivers occurred in Limassol on Tuesday night, with the incidents taking place just an hour apart, according to police reports.

The first attack happened around 22:20 on Georgiou A’ Street in the Germasogeia coastal area. A 24-year-old delivery driver, travelling on a moped, was assaulted by two unknown individuals wearing masks and riding a motorcycle. The attackers caused the driver to lose control of his moped, leading to a fall and subsequent injury.

The masked assailants then struck the victim before stealing his moped and a shoulder bag containing €100. The delivery driver was taken to the Limassol General Hospital, where he was treated for an ankle sprain and later discharged.

Police managed to locate the stolen moped shortly after the incident using a GPS application. It has since been transported to the Limassol Police Department for further examination.

Second attack within an hour

A second attack was reported at 23:30 at the traffic light intersection of Makariou III and Agias Zonis. Two masked individuals, again on a black motorcycle, approached a 22-year-old food delivery driver. According to police, the passenger on the motorcycle kicked the delivery driver, causing him to fall from his vehicle. Fortunately, the victim was not injured, and the attackers fled the scene.

Ongoing investigations

The Limassol Police Department is actively investigating both cases, with efforts underway to identify the perpetrators and prevent further attacks against food delivery drivers in the area. Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward as they intensify their efforts to bring the assailants to justice.
