Two kilos of cannabis seized in Nicosia, 20-year-old arrested

A cannabis seizure resulted in the arrest of a 20-year-old man after around two kilograms of cannabis were found and confiscated during an operation by the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (DLEU).

According to a Police statement, officers from the DLEU went to a courier company in Nicosia following an assessment of information. A parcel containing the cannabis had arrived from abroad.

A 20-year-old man appeared to collect the parcel and was arrested for offences committed in flagrante delicto.

Small quantity found during search

A subsequent body search also found a small quantity of cannabis in the man’s possession, weighing approximately two grams.

The 20-year-old is expected to appear before the Nicosia District Court today, where police are expected to request his remand.

The Nicosia branch of the DLEU is investigating the case.
