Free EU online training starts in October

Date:

Free EU online training sessions focusing on the European Union and the role of citizens will begin in October through the UNIVERSITAS Foundation’s programme “Europe and Us – We Know. We Discuss. We Participate!”.

According to a statement issued by the foundation on Tuesday, the programme is open to all adult citizens, regardless of their profession or educational background, and will run from October to December 2026.

The online sessions will take place in the afternoons, from 4pm to 7pm, across three cycles.

Three training cycles

Cycle A will take place on 13, 15, 20, 22 and 27 October.

Cycle B will run on 29 October and 3, 5, 10 and 12 November.

Cycle C will take place on 17, 19, 24 and 26 November and 1 December.

The EU online training programme will cover five thematic areas:

  • Democracy and European Values
  • Security and Protection
  • Progress and Prosperity
  • Society and Cohesion
  • Quality of Life and Sustainability

Focus on citizens’ participation

According to the organisers, the programme aims to help participants better understand how European policies affect their everyday lives.

It will also help participants develop knowledge and skills that can enable them to take a more active role in public debate.

Participation is free, but pre-registration is required. Participants will receive a certificate of attendance, while sessions will be delivered by specialised academics and professionals.

The programme is co-funded by the Representation of the European Commission in Cyprus and implemented by the UNIVERSITAS Foundation in cooperation with the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute.
