Two firefighting helicopters collided while battling a major wildfire in the Psatha area, according to Greece’s Fire Service.
Authorities said one of the helicopter crews managed to establish communication following the collision and appears to be safe.
There is still no official information regarding the second crew, although Greek media reports claim that two people have died. The reports have not yet been officially confirmed.
Both helicopters were leased by the Greek Fire Service. Each aircraft carried a two-person crew, consisting of Romanian pilots and Greek flight coordinators.
Those injured are being transferred to the 251 General Air Force Hospital for treatment.
Authorities are continuing rescue operations and investigating the circumstances of the collision.
